Video game brands capitalize on E3
We’ve noticed an interesting trend with this latest Consumer Electronics ranking: most mobile electronic companies such as OnePlus, Xiaomi, Samsung, etc. all experienced decreases in their total social media interactions for the month of June (the only exception is Apple, but they’re not specifically a phone hardware company since they produce MacBooks and other products as well). However, gaming console brands such as PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo all experienced increases in their totals by comparison—the latter two displayed impressive improvements of more or less +180%… (Xbox: 3.734.847, Nintendo: 1.787.013)
The fact that E3—the world’s preeminent annual gaming industry event—took place in June explains a lot. People were buzzing on social media about all the latest news of upcoming video game releases and other game-related updates, which most companies wait for E3 to announce.
